OOME is the acronym of "Out Of Memory Exception".

The OOME portfolio contains pictures of everyday objects, domestic places, plants and animals and it includes portraits of my family. I explore the rooms of my house or the places close to me in my town.

IOE is the achronym of "Input Output Exception"

IOE is a site specific portfolio. All the pictures are taken into the Duomo of Milano. I'm not much concerned about the architecture thoug, I try to observe people taking pictures with their mobiles. They move their arms and bodies looking for the best picture framing. They chase the natural light diffused by the stain-glass colored windows and fix it through the monitors. Sometime they are still as marble statues or they looks like inspired dancers or actors. Despite of different culture, race or religion, people looks like to play the same ritual : they raise the media in front of their face like divine relics as if they were enjoying a sort of religious ecstasy.
IOE is part of a wider long term project investigating how the new media shape our experience and the perception of the places.

MRE is the acronym of "Missing Resource Exception".

The project deals with the overlooked peripheral landscape of Milan where I live. I take the pictures when I commute to the big city. This is not a contemplative approach to landscape because commuters are always too much in hurry to be contemplative. Higher buildings' roofs stuffed with satellite parabolic antennas, waste incinerators chimneys, telecommunication lattice towers or other very high structures of this territory either partially or completely perceptible from very long distances are the subjects. Not any vertical line correction, not any noise reduction nor particular tonal nor colour improvement have been introduced in the post processing. Details and colours are ‘Missing Resources' in this portfolio which includes specific digital sensor noise patterns and shows very unreal colours.

IE is the acronym of "Introspection Exception".

IE are views of the beach. I'm concerned with revealing the most intimate loneliness of people regardless their individual identity. I decided to explore a place like a beach, where i can find lonely subjects as well as group of persons, and where i can take images of almost undressed people as clothes give too much information about identity. Through fast shooting superimposition, using my camera as an automatic annotation tool, I study mobility and proximity of the people as an opportunity of access to other human beings. The structure of modern life brings us into contact with many people. We are occupied with many activities, professionally, socially, politically. And yet, perhaps never before have we experienced such loneliness, alienation, and separation. IE is drawing my attention to the relationship between the the subject and the space, the individual and the group, the part and the whole, the inside and the outside. I'm going to explore the theme of the “outside-of in the middle of me”, as would say the philosopher Jean Luc Nancy or, in other terms, is about the need to get in touch with the 'other' and, at the same time, to get in touch with the inner part of ourself.

NPE is the acronym of 'Null Pointer Exception' (*)

Empty advertising panel, their implicit meaning is missing, they lost (or never had) the function becoming the 'message' themselves. Not any object to refer to, not any advertising message to show : this is the exceptional event nowadays. The absence of the content, the impossible absence of communication could be skipped as the 'null' message is becoming the real message.

(*) In computer science, a 'Pointer' is a programming language data type whose value refers directly to (or "points to") another value stored elsewhere in the computer memory using its address. Pointers are so commonly used as references that sometimes people use the word "pointer" to refer to references in general; A 'Null pointer' refers to no object. Because it refers to nothing, an attempt to dereference a null pointer can cause a 'Null Pointer Exception' : a new entity which could prevent from run-time error that usually terminates the program immediately.

NPE are "hybrid digital images". 120 (6X7 cm) Colour negative films were scanned with an hi-res drum scanner. Images were imported into Photoshop and they were printed out Museum-quality Digital Lambda prints on Kodak ENDURA paper.
